Christmas Greetings

A Christmas greeting is a message of good will that we send to our friends, family, and coworkers, during the holiday season. The traditional Christmas greetings are either Christmas cards or verbal greetings, such as Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or Season's greetings, as we pass each other on the street or talk to each other on the phone. These traditional methods can be boring and insincere. Why not create a way to send a Christmas greeting that is a little more exciting and much more sincere?

There are things that we do every day that could serve as the perfect Christmas greeting with a little tweaking. Everybody loves homemade cookies or baked goods so why not turn them into Christmas greetings? Bake a pie that has a Christmas greeting carved into the top of it. You could carve the traditional greetings such as Merry Christmas or you could carve your own personalized greeting. You could also bake letter shaped cookies that spell out Merry Christmas or Seasons greetings.

Another unique way to convey christmas greetings is to have a small Christmas party or dinner for your close friends and family. For each individual that you invite, create a homemade place mat, wine glass, or clothe napkin that has a personalized Christmas greeting on it. If you go to your local craft store you can find everything you need to create these items. Other than that, all you need is a little creativity to come up with the perfect Christmas greeting. Either way, you get to spend time with those that you really want to see during the holiday season, which is far better than telling them Merry Christmas over the phone or sending them an informal Christmas card.

Music is an ideal way to send a Christmas greeting also. Christmas caroling, although an old tradition, seems to have disappeared altogether. It is time to revive it. Caroling is a great way to send Christmas greetings while making people feel warm and happy, especially elderly people. If you have a musician in your family, for instance someone who plays the flute or the acoustic guitar, have them play while you and your other family members sing Christmas songs. If you are really good, you could even write your own Christmas song to sing. You can go house-to-house singing and playing Christmas songs or you could have a “sing-along” in your own home. Invite a bunch of your friends and family over, pull out the instruments, and sing and play Christmas songs until the wee hours of the morning.

Sending a Christmas greeting doesn't have to be boring or even traditional for that matter. There are endless ways to let people know that you are thinking of them and that you truly want their holiday season to be a good one. There isn't a law that says you have to send a card or just say Merry Christmas. If sending cards or making phone calls just isn't your thing then do something that they will never forget and have fun with it.
